Abstract

Background: Knee osteoarthritis is a common joint disease that greatly affects the patient's quality of life (QoL). Therefore, this study was conducted to evaluate the quality of life of patients with stage II and III primary knee osteoarthritis treated at Thai Binh Medical University Hospital. Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study on 34 patients diagnosed with primary knee osteoarthritis stages II and III who visited and were treated at Thai Binh Medical University Hospital from January 2023 to December /2024. The objective of the study was to assess the QoL by SF36 score. Results: The average quality of life score was 49.0±16.5. QoL score in the patient group was higher than the female patient group, in the group under 60 years old was higher than in the group aged 60 years or older, and in the stage II osteoarthritis group was higher than in stage III. Conclusion: QoL scores of patients with knee osteoarthritis are low, depending on the stage of the disease and a number of factors such as gender, age, and comorbidities.
