DENTAL STATUS OF CHILDREN RECEIVING DENTAL TREATMENT UNDER GENERAL ANESTHESIA

Abstract

Objective: The study aimed to describe tooth decay, pulp pathology status in pediatric patient receiving dental treatment under general anesthesia. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study conducted on 50 pediatric patients who had the indication for dental treatment under general anesthesia at School of Dentistry, National Hospital of Odonto – Stomaology, Duc Giang general Hospital between July 2023 and May 2024. Result: The mean dmft index was 16,74 ± 4,78. The mean dmft/DMFT index was 17,74 ± 4,32. The mean number of decayed teeth was 17 teeth, the mean number of decayed deciduous teeth was 16 teeth and the mean number of teeth with extensive stage caries was 14 teeth. According to ICCMS, 87% teeth had caries (n = 1000). The ratio of children with irreversible pulpitis teeth was 64%. The prevalence of irreversible pulpitis teeth was 10,4%. On average, each child had 2 irreversible pulpitis teeth and 1 pulpal necrosis with chronic periapical pathosis tooth.
