Abstract

Objective: Determining the proportions of cancer risk levels, rates of poor knowledge, poor attitudes, and factors related to attitudes toward early screening among relatives of genetically predisposed cancer patients using the family health history tool at the Oncology Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City. Subjects and Methods: The cross-sectional study was conducted on 210 relatives of genetically predisposed cancer patients at the Oncology Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire. Result: The proportion of relatives with poor attitudes towards early prostate cancer screening is approximately 75%. The results show that poor attitudes towards early screening among relatives of cancer patients are significantly associated (p < 0.05) with factors such as gender, religion, characteristics of early screening (lack of time, distance to medical facilities, fear of pain during testing), and knowledge of hereditary cancer. Conclusion: The study examines the correlation between factors related to the attitudes towards cancer screening among relatives of cancer patients at the Oncology Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City.
