SURVEY OF DISCRIMINATION BEHAVIOR AGAINST PEOPLE WITH HIV/AIDS AT THU DUC CITY HOSPITAL OF MEDICAL STAFF

Abstract
Objective: Describe the current situation of stigma and discrimination against people with HIV/AIDS among medical staff at Thu Duc City Hospital. Methods: Cross-sectional survey of 120 health care workers using direct interviews based on structured questionnaires "Guidelines for reducing stigma and discrimination against HIV-infected people at facilities”. Results: Most medical staff feel nervous when touching personal belongings, dressing wounds or drawing blood for people with HIV/AIDS. Healthcare workers' views on people with HIV/AIDS are still not positive, with over 80% of healthcare workers afraid of HIV infection when bandaging and taking blood for patients and 35% using preventive measures. unnecessary. Multivariate regression analysis found that permanent workers (OR=0.14, p=0.009) and women were less likely to commit discriminatory acts (OR=0.20, p=0.018). ). Conclusion: Continued training is needed to improve discriminatory behavior among health care workers.
