OVERVIEW OF TREATMENT METHODS RESULT OF PERITONSILLAR ABSCESS

Abstract
Peritonsillar abscesses (PTA) are localized collections of pus in peritonsillar space between the tonsillar capsule and superior constrictor muscle, accounting for 1.1% of ENT emergency cases. PTA can lead to dangerous complications such as deep neck infection, mediastinitis, pneumonia, angular lymphadenitis... Early diagnosis and treatment lead to shorten treatment time and avoid dangerous complications. Through an overview study of PTA treatment methods we collected 13 articles that met research criterias. The methods of treating PTA inclue: Medicine therapy, Needle aspiration, Incision & Drainage and Abscess tonsillectomy.
