DEPRESSION AND RELATED FACTORS IN PATIENTS TREATED FOR CERVICAL INTRAEPITHELIAL NEOPLASIA AT HUNG VUONG HOSPITAL

Abstract

Objective: Rate and factors related to depression in patients being monitored for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia at Hung Vuong Hospital. Method: Cross-sectional study surveyed 180 patients diagnosed with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia who were being monitored and treated at the Cervical Endoscopy unit of medical examination department A - Hung Vuong Hospital using the DASS 21 tool. with cutoff score ≥ 10 points. Results: Rate of depression in patients being monitored and treated for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia: 16.1%. Some factors related to depression, in which patients with a family history of cervical cancer increase the risk of depression by 9.86 times (95% CI: 1.39–70.22, p < 0.022). The group of subjects with CIN 3 biopsy results had a 5.09 times higher risk of depression (95% CI, 1.76–14.76, p<0.003). The group of subjects with biopsy results of AIS or CIS had a 9.56 times higher risk of depression (95% CI: 1.60–57.45, p < 0.013). The group of subjects with anxiety disorders had an 18.57 times higher risk of depression (95% CI 5.48-62.97, p < 0.001). Conclusion: Screening for depression in patients treated for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia is necessary, contributing to reducing unwanted complications for patients
