Abstract

Objective: Evaluate M2BPGi concentrations in patients with Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and Cirrhosis, compare M2BPGi concentrations in HCC patients with Cirrhosis patients. Patients and method: A cross-sectional descriptive study on patients with HCC and Cirrhosis. The patient’s clinical information was collected, stage was assessed, the diagnosis of HCC was confirmed and M2BPGi was performed. Results: The study enrolled 62 patients including 31 HCC patients and 31 Cirrhosis patients. The rate of men with HCC and Cirrhosis is higher than that of women and there is no difference in the average age of disease between the two groups. The M2BPGi concentration in the HCC group was 1.79, lower than in the Cirrhosis group, which was 4.03. In the HCC group, M2BPGi levels gradually increased with the severity of the disease according to the Barcelona classification. The M2BPGi concentration in the untreated group was 4.16 higher than in the treated group (1.92) and in patients with 2 or more tumors (3.16) it was higher than in patients with only 1 tumor (1.24). Conclusions: M2BPGi concentrations in HCC are lower than in cirrhosis. In HCC patients, M2BPGi levels in the untreated group are higher than in the treated group and the group with 2 or more tumors  is higher than the group with 1 tumor.
