Main Article Content
Abstract
A cross-sectional study involving 233 caregivers of stroke patients was conducted at Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Clinic between February and April 2024. Prevalence rates for depression, anxiety, and stress among caregivers were found to be 26.6%, 29.6%, and 30.9%, respectively. While depression and stress primarily manifested at mild to moderate levels, a concerning 1.7% of caregivers experienced severe or worse anxiety. Notably, 17.2% of caregivers reported symptoms of all three mental health conditions. These findings highlight a significantly higher prevalence of depression, anxiety, and stress among stroke caregivers compared to the general population. Consequently, there is an urgent need for comprehensive mental health support services for caregivers, delivered collaboratively by hospitals, communities, and families.
