CLINICAL AND LABORATORY INVESTIGATIONS FEATURES OF DILATED CARDIOMYOPATHY IN CHILDREN AT VIETNAM NATIONAL CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

Abstract

Objective: To describe common clinical signs and laboratory investigations of dilated cardiomyopathy in children. Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study on 34 patients diagnosed and treated with dilated cardiomyopathy at Vietnam National Children's Hospital. Results: Heart failure (100%), dyspnea (76,5%), hepatomegaly (73,53%), tachycardia (61,76%), enlarged heart shadow on chest X-ray (100%), systolic dysfunction (94,1%), ventricular thickening on electrocardiogram (35,3%). Conclusion: Heart failure, enlarged heart on chest X-ray, and systolic dysfunction are common in dilated cardiomyopathy.
