Main Article Content
Abstract
Introduction: Community health workers (CHWs) play an essential role in community health care. However, the task completion level of CHWs in Binh Duong Province is limited, requiring appropriate intervention measures to improve work efficiency. Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness of interventions on the task completion level of community health workers in Binh Duong Province for the years 2023 - 2024. Methods: A pre-and-post intervention comparative study conducted with 587 CHWs in Binh Duong Province. Results: Among the 587 CHWs who were intervened, the proportion of CHWs who were aware of and fully implemented their tasks increased from 25.9% before the intervention to 31.0% after (EI= 19.7%, p < 0.001). The proportion of CHWs meeting requirements in communication increased from 66.3% to 76.3% (EI = 15.1%, p < 0.001). In the area of first aid and routine patient care, the percentage that met requirements rose from 49.7% to 57.8% (EI= 16.3%, p = 0.006). The implementation of tasks not included in their official responsibilities increased from 2.6% to 5.3% (EI = 103.8%, p = 0.026). In terms of overall task completion, the percentage of CHWs performing their tasks effectively improved from 56.1% to 72.6% (EI= 29.4%, p < 0.001), while the percentage of those classified as "non-completion" decreased from 10.7% to 4.3% (EI= -59.8%). Conclusion: The results indicate that the interventions conducted have yielded positive effects and have significantly contributed to the enhancement of health service quality in the community. Continuous maintenance and improvement of training programs are necessary, alongside increased monitoring and professional support, to ensure that CHWs can perform their tasks effectively and safely.
