Abstract

Patients on peritoneal dialysis are highly susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 infection and mortality, making full vaccination crucial for this population. Assessing the effectiveness of post-vaccination antibody production against SARS-CoV-2 and investigating factors affecting antibody generation in these patients is critically important. The study included 17 peritoneal dialysis patients receiving outpatient care at Hanoi Nephrology Hospital. The levels of IgG antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 were measured using the ELISA method. The findings revealed that antibody concentrations increased after the second and third vaccine doses, with values of 71.11 ± 43.28 U/ml and 119.83 ± 38.91 U/ml, respectively. The percentage of patients with a positive antibody response was 16 out of 17 after the second dose and 17 out of 17 after the third dose. Factors such as age > 40, duration of peritoneal dialysis > 5 years, anemia, hypertension, and hypoalbuminemia affected the ability to generate antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 in peritoneal dialysis patients.
