Abstract

Comprehensive geriatric assessment is a multidimensional and interdisciplinary diagnostic procedure to assess functional capacity and decline in elderly patients. Objective: To describe the comprehensive geriatric status of elderly patients with ischemic heart disease at the National Geriatric Hospital. Subjects and methods: To describe the comprehensive geriatric status of 150 elderly patients with ischemic heart disease at the National Geriatric Hospital from September 2023 to March 2024. Results: The study showed that the average age of the attendants was 75.3±8.7. Female subjects accounted for 52.7%. Chronic ischemic heart disease was detected in 67.3% of the individuals; the majority also experienced grade II chest discomfort (33.3%) and NYHA class I heart failure (42.7%). Electrocardiography showed that 34.0% of subjects had ST wave changes and echocardiography showed a mean EF of 64.3±10.5. According to the AGGIR scale, 79.3% of subjects were dependent on physical and mental care activities, while 61.3% were dependent on household and social activities. According to the MNA scale, most subjects participants exhibited normal nutritional status (49.3%). 53.3% of participants were at high risk of myasthenia gravis according to the SARC-F scale and 40.7% of subjects were at high risk of falling according to the MORSE scale. Most individuals were incontinent (66.7%). 32.7% of subjects had cognitive impairment according to the MiniCog. Conclusion: According to the AGGIR scale, most subjects were reliant on physical and mental care activities and household and social activities.
