ROLE OF MAMMOGRAPHY AND ULTRASOUND ACCORDING TO BI-RADS CLASSIFICATION IN DIAGNOSING BREAST CANCER IN THAI NGUYEN NATIONAL HOSPITAL

Abstract
Objective: Describe the clinic features and evaluate the value of mammography and breast ultrasound according to BI-RADS classification in diagnosing breast cancer in Thai Nguyen national hospital. Materials and methods: Descriptive, prospective and retrospective study of patients from June 1, 2022 to June 30, 2024 undergoing mammography and breast ultrasound with classification from BI-RADS 3 to BI-RADS 5, with histopathology results at the Center for Diagnostic Imaging and Interventional Radiology, Thai Nguyen National Hospital. Results: 60 patients participated in the study with an average age of 53.97 ± 12.05 years old, of which 44 patients had pathology results of breast cancer, 16 patients had other diagnoses. The agreement between mammography and breast ultrasound was quite good with Kappa index = 0.62. Mammography has Se = 93.18%; Sp = 62.5%; Ac = 85%. Breast ultrasound has Se = 95.45%; Sp = 81.25%; Ac = 91.67%. Combining mammography and breast ultrasound has Se = 97.73%; Sp = 81.25%; Ac = 93.33%. Conclusion: Combining X-ray and breast ultrasound has high value in diagnosing breast cancer.
