Abstract

Objectives: Describe the characteristics of refractive errors and some risk factors in children aged 6-10 years. Subjects and methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study, on 326 eyes of 163 children 6-10 years old with refractive errors examined at Nghe An Eye Hospital from February 2024 to the end of June 2024 Results: The most common form of refractive error is myopia 64.7%, of which simple myopia is 17.2%, myopia is 47.5%; Next is hyperopia 27%, of which simple hyperopia is 5.8%, astigmatic hyperopia is 21.2%; Simple astigmatism 8.3%. The rate of children with amblyopia is 18.4%, of which mild amblyopia accounts for the highest rate of 9.8%. There was no relationship between age at examination, age at detection of refractive errors, gender, family history and types of refractive errors (p > 0.05). Time spent using near vision and time participating in outdoor activities are related to the rate of refractive error.
