Abstract

Objectives and Subjects: This study assesses the characteristics and severity of 671 Dengue fever patients at Ba Vi General Hospital from January to December 2023. Methodology: Retrospective descriptive analysis. Results: Common clinical symptoms included fever (100%), headache (69.6%), joint pain (58.7%), and hemorrhage (19.5%). Among the patients, 14.9% exhibited warning signs, and 0.7% had severe Dengue fever. The most common warning sign manifestations were gum bleeding (12.5%), liver enlargement (11.2%), and frequent vomiting (10.4%). About 7.5% of patients progressed from Dengue fever to Dengue fever with warning signs, and 0.4% from Dengue fever with warning signs to severe Dengue fever. Male gender, age ≥ 60, right hypochondriac pain, and rash were factors associated with progression to severe Dengue fever.
