Abstract

Objectives: To identiy the prevalence of eye complications and to explore associated factors n type 2 diabetes patients being treated at Nhat Tan General Hospital. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 129 patients over 18 years old with type 2 diabetes undergoing treatment at Nhat Tan General Hospital. Results: Cataracts are the most common complication, accounting for 37.2%, followed by diabetic retinopathy at 21.7%, and macular edema at 3.1%. Disease duration, family history of diabetes, fasting blood glucose, and HbA1c index were found to be associated with eye complications in patients with type 2 diabetes. Conclusions: Eye complications in type 2 diabetes patients have a fairly high rate, with many associated factors influencing them. Therefore, clinicians need to pay attention to this situation and its factors to have appropriate monitoring and treatment intervention strategies for each stage of the disease to minimize these issues in type 2 diabetes patients in the future.
