Abstract

Background: Assessing the knowledge and confidence of nurses in providing nutritional support to cancer patients plays a crucial role in developing training programs for nursing staff. Objective: To develop and evaluate a questionnaire that is both valid and reliable in measuring the knowledge and confidence of nurses in providing nutritional support to cancer patients. Method: A tool was developed and its validity was assessed through the Content Validity Index (CVI) and the Scale-Content Validity Index/ Average (S-CVI/AVE) method. The reliability of the tool was evaluated using the Kuder Richardson 20 index for the knowledge section and the Cronbach-alpha index for the confidence section. Results: The CVI for the knowledge section ranged from 0,7 to 1, with an S-CVI/AVE of 0,94. The CVI for the confidence assessment ranged from 0,9 to 1, with an S-CVI/AVE of 0,95. The KR-20 index for the knowledge section was 0,84, and the Cronbach-alpha index for the confidence section was 0,98. Conclusion: This tool has demonstrated high validity and reliability, making it suitable for use in evaluating the knowledge and confidence of nurses in providing nutritional support to cancer patients.
