Abstract

Introduction and objective: Genital skin lost is a rare urological trauma, it is caused by many reasons. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of split – thickness skin grafting surgery for male genital reconstruction. Patients and methods: This is a case series at Binh Dan hospital from 01/2018 to 12/2023. We described the characteristics of etiology, diagnosis and its surgical treatment. Results: 45 patients were admitted in our study with different causes: working accident due to shrimp air blower (21 cases), post injecting silicone (paraffinoma: 15 cases), post Fournier’s gangrene (6 cases), post reconnecting an amputation penile (1 case) and burn of the genital organ due to chemical (1 case), post circumcision at a private clinic (1 case). All cases were grafted with split – thickness skin. Post operation, they maintained or improved erection, normal voiding and had good cosmetic outcome. Conclusion: We show the wide variety of indications for split thickness skin grafting use, the ease of the technique, and its successful outcomes. This procedure should be offered to patients as a first-line treatment.
