SOME CLINICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF PATIENTS WITH ECTOPIC PREGNANCY UNDERGOING SURGERY AT NAM DINH OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY HOSPITAL IN 2023

Abstract

Objective: To describe the clinical and paraclinical characteristics of patients with ectopic pregnancy undergoing surgery at Nam Dinh Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital. Subjects and Methods: A retrospective study on 183 patients with ectopic pregnancy who underwent surgery at Nam Dinh Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital from January 2023 to December 2023. Results: The mean age of patients was 33.4 ± 5.9 years, with the most common age group being 30–34 years, accounting for 32.8%. Typical symptoms, including missed periods, abdominal pain, and vaginal bleeding, were observed in 38.2% of patients. Hypovolemic shock was present in 9.3% of cases upon hospital admission. Ultrasound revealed a typical ectopic gestational sac in 21.8% of patients. Additionally, 52.4% of patients had a β-hCG level below 1000 mIU/mL. Conclusion: Among ectopic pregnancy cases undergoing surgery at Nam Dinh Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital in 2023, 38.2% presented with the classical triad of symptoms, over 50% had a β-hCG level below 1000 mIU/mL, and 21.8% exhibited typical ultrasound findings of ectopic pregnancy.
