QUALITY OF LIFE AND SOME RELATED FACTORS OF LUNG CANCER PATIENTS AT LAO CAI PROVINCE GENERAL HOSPITAL IN 2024

Abstract

Objective: To study the quality of life and some factors related to the quality of life of lung cancer patients at Lao Cai General Hospital. Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 161 lung cancer patients being treated at Lao Cai General Hospital from February 2024 to October 2024 using a questionnaire to assess general quality of life (EORTC QLQ - C30) and lung cancer-specific quality of life (EORTC QLQ - LC13). Results: Quality of life according to the EORTC QLQ - C30 scale had an average functional score of 57.84 ± 12.87, an average symptom score of 36.04 ± 9.24, an average general health score of 40.01 ± 11.70, and an average financial score of 72.67 ± 22.93. According to the EORTC QLQ – LC13 scale, the average quality of life score was 25.88±3.69. The patient's age was related to the overall quality of life, the duration of the disease was related to the quality of life in terms of financial factors, the characteristics of metastasis were related to the quality of life in the functional, symptomatic and economic domains, the treatment method was related to all factors according to the EORTC QLQ –C30 scale. Conclusion: Hospitals need to take measures to improve treatment effectiveness and quality of life for patients.
