Abstract

Metanephric adenoma (MA) is a sporadic benign tumor, accounting for only 0.2-0.7% of renal epithelial tumors, often difficult to distinguish from malignant tumors through imaging, accurate diagnosis mainly based on pathology and immunohistochemistry. This report describes the case of a 46-year-old female patient who accidentally discovered a left renal tumor during a routine health check. CT scan showed a homogeneous, well-defined mass with no necrosis or hemorrhage. Percutaneous biopsy under ultrasound guidance confirmed the diagnosis of MA. The patient was treated conservatively and followed up periodically. Through this clinical case, we would like to discuss the characteristics of metanephric adenoma, the role of preoperative biopsy, and some tests in diagnosis and treatment orientation, especially studies on BRAF V600E mutation, with the hope of opening up the potential for more straightforward and more accurate diagnosis in the future.
