Abstract

Objectives: Description of clinical and paraclinical characteristics of ovarian tumor patients who underwent surgery at Nam Dinh Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital. Subjects and methods: Descriptive study included 365 women diagnosed with ovarian tumors underwent surgery at Nam Dinh Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2019. The hispathological results were ovarian tumors. Rusults: The group aged 45 and over accounted for 35.9%, the lowest was the group under 20 years old (2.7%). Ovarian tumors were detected during routine gynecological examinations at 36.7%, and ultrasound at 26.8%. The tumor size on ultrasound is mainly between 5 and 10 cm (71.0%). The tumor's properties are mainly anechoic and hypoechoic (62.2%), and only papillary projection were present in 6.5%. CA-125 concentration below 35 IU/ml accounted for 73.8%. The main histopathological results were ovarian cystic neoplasms (68.5%), and the lowest was ovarian cancer (0.4%). Conclusions: The clinical characteristics of ovarian tumors are often poor, and tumors are often detected during routine gynecological examination and ultrasound. Ultrasound is the most important test for ovarian tumor characteristics. CA-125 levels below 35 IU/ml account for 73.8%. The main histopathological result is ovarian cystic neoplasm (68.5%), and the lowest is ovarian cancer, accounting for 0.4%.
