Main Article Content
Abstract
Preoperative anxiety is a common condition for all patients before surgery. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted on 110 patients before undergoing retinal detachment surgery at the Department of Anesthesia and Resuscitation – Ho Chi Minh City Eye Hospital from March 2024 to September 2024 to assess the level of anxiety in patients before retinal detachment surgery and related factors. The study used the HADS-A scale to assess the anxiety of patients before retinal detachment surgery. Research on the anxiety of patients before retinal detachment surgery is common with results showing that 47.3% of patients have moderate anxiety, 18.2% have severe anxiety and 34.5% have mild anxiety. At the same time, the study noted that factors such as age (F= 9,9, p < 0,001), gender (F = 4,76, p = 0,038), health insurance status (F = 13,6, p < 0,001) economic conditions (F = 37,2, p < 0,001) affect the level of anxiety of patients before surgery. It is necessary to improve management care to help patients reduce anxiety before surgery.
