VALUE OF MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING IN DIAGNOSING PERITONEAL METASTASES IN OVARIAN CANCER PATIENTS

Abstract

Study on the Role of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) in Diagnosing Peritoneal Metastases in 93 Ovarian Cancer Patients. The MRI findings for peritoneal metastases were compared with surgical descriptions and histopathological results. MRI was unable to detect microscopic metastases; however, for peritoneal metastases visible to the naked eye during surgery, MRI demonstrated a high sensitivity of 87.9% and an accuracy of 95.6%. For larger peritoneal metastases (>10 mm), MRI achieved 100% sensitivity.
