Abstract

Objectives: There has been an increasing interest in the use of injectable fillers for cosmetic purposes. However, improper use and technique can lead to varying degrees of complications, often resulting in serious consequences. Case report: We present a case of a 30-year-old female patient who received two types of fillers, liquid silicone and hyaluronic acid, injected into the buttock area by an individual who may not have received proper medical training. The patient developed late complications, including the formation of silicone granulomas, migration of the filler, and the onset of an infection in the buttock area. The patient underwent multiple surgical procedures to remove the filler and treat the infection. Discussion: In this case, the patient experienced several complications, including silicone granuloma formation, filler migration, and infection, resulting in the formation of multiple abscesses. Complete removal of the filler could only be achieved by removing the surrounding tissue, resulting in deformities for the patient. Conclusion: The use of cosmetic fillers in buttock augmentation carries a risk of various complications, especially when fillers of uncertain origin are used and the procedure is performed by non-specialist providers.
