NUTRITIONAL CARE PRACTICES OF PREGNANT WOMEN COME FOR PREGNANCY CHECK-UP AT THE DEPARTMENT OF OBSTETRICS AND OBSTETRICS - HANOI MEDICAL UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

Abstract

Objective: Describe the nutritional care practices of pregnant women (PNMT) coming for prenatal check-ups at the Department of Obstetrics, Hanoi Medical University Hospital in 2024. Method: Cross-sectional descriptive study on 121 pregnant women coming for prenatal check-ups at the Department of Obstetrics, Hanoi Medical University Hospital in 2024. Collect indicators related to nutritional care practices of pregnant women coming for prenatal check-ups at the Department of Obstetrics, Hanoi Medical University Hospital. Results: The pre-pregnancy BMI of the study subjects in the first 3 months, the second 3 months, the last 3 months, the average of the subjects was 19.8 ± 1.6 kg/m2, 20.9 ± 2 kg/m2, 20.5 ± 2.3 kg/m2, 20.5 ± 1.9 kg/m2, respectively. Of the 121 pregnant women, 94 took iron and multivitamin tablets during pregnancy, accounting for 77.69%, and 27 did not take them, accounting for 22.31%. Regarding the use of iron and multivitamin tablets, 54 people (57.45%) took them regularly and 42.55% chose to take them irregularly. 61 people (64.89%) took iron and multivitamin tablets from the first 3 months of pregnancy, 30 people started taking them from the middle 3 months (31.91%) and 3 people took them before pregnancy (3.19%). In the 87 pregnant women who had a diet during pregnancy, the majority of pregnant women who had a diet during pregnancy chose to abstain from alcohol (83.99%), followed by spicy foods (81.6%) and raw foods and fatty foods (71.3%). The group of pregnant women in the first 3 months who went for prenatal check-ups once was 55.2%, twice was 7.6%, and once was 55.2%. The group of 3 months of pregnancy check-ups from 3 times or more was 82.9%, 2 times was 9.8%, 1 time was 7.3%. The group of 3 months of pregnancy check-ups from 3 times or more was 96.1%, 2 times was 3.9%. Conclusion: There is still a high percentage of pregnant women visiting the Obstetrics Department, Hanoi Medical University Hospital who do not have good nutritional and maternity care habits.
