Abstract

Objective: To delineate the treatment outcomes and determinants related with the treatment outcomes of acute ischemic stroke patients with cancer at the Stroke Center, Bach Mai Hospital, during 2023-2024. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 153 acute ischemic stroke patients with cancer at the Stroke Center, Bach Mai Hospital, from January 2023 to June 2024. Results: The average age of the study participants was 68.9 ± 11.2, with the majority being over 65 years old (67.3%). Males accounted for 67.3%, while females made up 32.7%. Upon discharge, 54.2% of patients had favorable treatment outcomes. After three months, the proportion of patients with favorable outcomes decreased to 43.8%. Factors associated with treatment outcomes after three months included thrombolytic therapy, endovascular intervention, dual antiplatelet therapy, and single antiplatelet therapy (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Acute ischemic stroke in cancer patients poses significant clinical challenges, necessitating the implementation of evidence-based, individualized treatment strategies to optimize therapeutic outcomes and mitigate adverse prognostic implications.
