NUTRITION STATUS OF INTENSIVE CARE UNIT PATIENTS AT VIETDUC UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL IN 2024

Abstract
Objective: To assess the nutritional status of patients in Intensive Care Unit at Viet Duc University Hospital. Method: Cross-sectional descriptive study conducted on 64 patients received critical care at Viet Duc University Hospital from March 2024 to July 2024. Results: 12.5% of patients have long-term energy deficiency malnutrition according to body mass index assessment. The average NRS 2002 nutritional risk screening score was 4.3 ± 0.9 points. The mNUTRIC nutritional risk score is 4.2 ± 1.0. Patients with 2 or more diseases have a 4.53 times higher risk of nutrition according to mNUTRIC than patients with less than 2 diseases. Weight loss of >10% within the last 6 months is associated with subthreshold albumin and prealbumin testing at the time of hospitalization. Conclusion: Patients admitted to the intensive care unit may have a normal body mass index, but those with more than 2 chronic diseases or a decrease of >10% in the last 3 months may be factors that increase the risk of malnutrition during hospitalization
