Abstract

Background: Enamel hypomineralization represents a developmental anomaly in the mineralization process, leading to both structural compromise and aesthetic concerns, manifested by white, yellow, or brown discolorations on the tooth surface. This defect may affect a single tooth, multiple teeth, or the entire dentition, particularly impacting patient confidence when the anterior teeth are involved. Various treatment options for enamel hypomineralization are available; however, minimally invasive approaches are increasingly favored due to their effectiveness and safety profile. Objective: To report the clinical outcomes of treating enamel hypomineralization-induced discoloration using the resin infiltration technique, aiming to achieve aesthetic improvements without invasive procedures. Method: A clinical case involving a 15-year-old female patient presenting with discoloration on the anterior teeth of both the upper and lower arches was documented. Resin infiltration, a conservative treatment designed to mask white lesions without the need for traditional tooth preparation or restorative procedures, was proposed and administered. Results: The patient expressed satisfaction with the post-treatment aesthetic outcomes, experiencing minimal tissue invasion and no postoperative sensitivity or discomfort. These findings support the effectiveness and safety of resin infiltration in addressing enamel hypomineralization. Conclusion: Resin infiltration serves as a minimally invasive, highly effective treatment option for improving the aesthetics of teeth affected by enamel hypomineralization. In this case, the technique successfully enhanced the patient’s dental aesthetics while preserving the natural tooth structure, underscoring its utility in clinical practice.
