ASSESSMENT OF HEALTH-RELATED QUALITY OF LIFE IN PATIENTS WITH END-STAGE CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE AT THE NATIONAL CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

Abstract
Objective: Describe the health-related quality of life of end-stage chronic kidney disease patients at the National Children's Hospital in 2021-2022. Subjects and methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study. Using the PedsQL 4.0 and PedsQL ESRD 3.0 module to assess the quality of life in 50 patients with end-stage renal disease undergoing renal replacement therapy at the National Children's Hospital. Results: Quality of life in the physical domain (64.31 ± 20.27) and the academic domain (65.5 ± 31.5) were lower than those in the social and emotional domains. Quality of life scores showed that patients with end-stage renal disease had difficulty interacting with family and friends (76,67 ± 21,36); often felt tired (85,6 ± 12,48) and uncomfortable due to changes in their appearance (71,0 ± 26,74). The quality of life of patients with end-stage renal disease at the National Children's Hospital improved after 6 years when using the PedsQL ESRD 3.0 toolkit. Conclusions: Patients with end-stage renal disease have poorer quality of life than healthy children and other chronic diseases in all areas of life (physical, emotional, social, learning). The quality of life of patients with end-stage renal disease at the National Children's Hospital improved after 6 years when using the PedsQL ESRD 3.0 toolkit.
