DENTAL PROSTHODONTIC CONDITION AND AWARENESS OF PROSTHODONTIC

Abstract
Background: Tooth loss is a serious consequence of dental problems that negatively affect oral health and overall health. Beside that point, the poor prosthodontic quality, the awareness and need for prosthodontic treatment are matters of great concern nowadays. Prosthodontic should take place as soon as possible, especially in young patients. Objectives: Survey of tooth loss, the needs and the awareness of prosthodontic treatment of freshmen at Tra Vinh University 2023-2024. Methods: The descriptive cross-sectional study of 325 patients who were freshmen coming for examination and treatment at the Department of Dentistry, Tra Vinh University from May 2024 to May 2025. Results: In this study, patients who have never had prosthodontic treatment accounted for the highest rate (60%); among the available prosthodontic treatments, the rate of good restorations is only 30.5%; according to the survey, the need for prosthodontic is very high, accounting for 93%; ages 18-22 had the highest need for treatment: single crown accounting for 51.2% and dental bridge restoration accounting for 41.2%, higher than the remaining forms of prosthodontic and also higher than ages 23-29. The purpose of prosthodontic treatment is to ensure both chewing and aesthetics. Conclusion: The need for prosthodontic treatment is high in young patients, the main choice is fixed crowns or bridges. The purpose of restoration is chewing as well as aesthetics.
