CARIES EXPERIENCE OF CHILDREN IN CENTRAL HIGHLAND REGION

Abstract
Central highland region is a land full of mountains, primitive forests and small ethnic minority communities. The ethnic minority communities include the Jarai, the Rade, the Bahnar, the Koho, the Mnong… We carried out the research on caries experience in children of central highland region to provide the useful information for the preventive programme. - In two decades, the status of caries experience in the primary dentition of 6-8 years old children increased both the rate of caries and the dmft. In 1999, 71.1% children with caries in the primary dentition, and the dmft is 3.22. In 2019, the rate of caries in the primary dentition is 91.1% and the dmft is 7.06. - In two decades, the status of caries experience in the permanent dentition increased by age both the rate of caries and the DMFT. - In 1999, the ratio of decayed teeth is filled was very low both in the primary dentition and the permanent dentition. After two decades, this ratio increased but also at low level. - In two decades, most children had no fluorosis. So we can use fluoride to prevent caries for children.
