Abstract

Objective: This study aims to describe the clinical characteristics and investigate the risk factors of temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD) patients at E Hospital in 2023. Material and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted with 24 patients aged between 12 and 80 at E Hospital in 2023, diagnosed with TMD according to the Schiffman and Orbach (2016) criteria. Data were collected through questionnaires and clinical examinations. STATA 16.0 software was used for data processing. Results: The majority of patients had the habit of chewing on one side (70.8%), slept less than 8 hours daily (83.3%), and 20.8% frequently ate hard foods. Common clinical symptoms included pain during chewing and mouth opening (66.7%), pain on one side (91.6%), joint clicking (45.8%), and difficulty opening the mouth (41.7%). Physical examination revealed that 100% of patients had pain on palpation of the joint, with 87.5% showing asymmetrical condylar movement.
