Abstract

Objectives: Evaluating of effectiveness treatment hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) by  radiofrequency ablation at K3 Hospital. Subjects and methods: The study was carried out on 71 patients with confirmed diagnosis of HCC were treated by radiofrequency ablation (RFA) with or without chemical embolization (TACE), assessment before and after treatment by CT/MRI and  AFP, time from March 2020 to May 2021. Results: The average age of patients was 59.39; male/female ratio: 80.3%/19.7%; prevalence of hepatitis B: 93%; hepatitis C: 11.3%. Character tumor: location is mainly in subsegment V and VI; 86% had cirrhosis; 51% had a combination with TACE. The effectiveness of the method: treatment success rate was 80.3%; the local recurrence rate is 12.3%; distant recurrence 10.6%; AFP afrer/AFP befor After RFA ratio 19.3%/80.7%. Side effective: new portal vein thrombosis 1.8%; abcess rate is 2.8%; ruptured liver tumor: 1.4%. Conclusion: RFA is a curative therapy, a good effect in the treatment HCC, however, it is necessary to follow up closely after treatment to detect early recurrence and have a suitable treatment for each case.
