SOME FACTORS RELATED TO CERVICAL CANCER PRVENTION SCREENING IN WOMEN AGED 21-65 IN NAM DINH CITY

Abstract

Objective: Identifying some factors related to cervical cancer prvention screening in women aged 21-65 in Nam Dinh city. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 420 women in Nam Phong commune and Loc Hoa ward, Nam Dinh city from March to December 2024. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire based on the health belief model (HBM). Results: Age, occupation, marital status and income were associated with “Barriers to screening” factors. Occupation, marriage, condom use and smoking were associated with beliefs about “Benefits of screening”. Marital status and income were associated with beliefs about “Disease severity”. “Disease susceptibility” were associated with occupation and income (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Beliefs about cervical cancer screening are influenced by many personal and social factors. The results are the basis for developing effective health communication and education programs to raise awareness and increase the rate of participation in cervical cancer screening.
