KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDES, AND PRACTICES ON STROKE OF PATIENTS' CAREGIVERS AT THE CENTRAL GERD HOSPITAL IN 2024

Abstract

Objective: The study was conducted to describe the current situation and identify some factors related to knowledge, attitudes, and practices of stroke among caregivers of patients at the Central Geriatric Hospital. Research design: cross-sectional with 231 primary caregivers who are relatives of stroke patients who are inpatients for 3 days or more, using a structured questionnaire for direct interviews. Results: showed that 41.1% of caregivers had good knowledge, 42.0% had average knowledge, and 16.9% had poor knowledge; only 15.6% knew the signs of FAST onset.Regarding attitude, 90.5% of caregivers had a good attitude; 94.3% agreed or strongly agreed that it was necessary to actively cooperate with doctors and promptly contact medical staff; 85.7% were willing to participate in health education sessions about stroke at the hospital. Regarding practice, 69.0% of caregivers had good practice, 30.0% had average and poor practice. 63.3% of patients were taken to the hospital within 3 hours of the onset of stroke symptoms.
