Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the outcomes of underwater endoscopic mucosal resection (UEMR) for non-pedunculated colorectal polyps larger than 10 mm. Subjects and methods: A prospective study was conducted on 73 non-pedunculated colorectal polyps ≥10 mm in size from 69 patients treated at Military Hospital 103. Polyps were classified endoscopically using the Paris and NICE classification systems, and histopathologically based on the World Health Organization (WHO) criteria. Outcomes and safety of UEMR were assessed both during hospitalization and at 3-month follow-up.. Results: The rate of successful polyp resection was 96.7%, with en bloc resection achieved in 95.9% of cases, immediate bleeding occurred in 1.4% of cases, and delayed post-procedural bleeding also occurred in 1.4%. No cases of perforation or post-polypectomy syndrome were observed. Conclusion: UEMR is a safe and effective technique for the treatment of non-pedunculated colorectal polyps ≥10 mm, particularly for flat lesions.
