Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the predictive value of the MAP(ASH) score for the need for medical intervention, rebleeding, and mortality in patients with upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB). Subjects and methods: A cohort study of 244 patients with UGIB (both retrospective and prospective, non-comparative) conducted at Military Hospital 103 from May 2023 to May 2025. The MAP(ASH) score and area under the ROC curve (AUROC) were analyzed for predicting medical intervention, rebleeding, and mortality. Results: The MAP(ASH) score showed excellent predictive value for medical intervention (AUC = 0,91, cutoff = 2), rebleeding (AUC = 0,92, cutoff = 4), and mortality (AUC = 0,96, cutoff = 5). Conclusion: The MAP(ASH) score is a highly valuable and effective prognostic tool that can be applied clinically at hospital admission to guide the assessment and management of patients with UGIB.
