CURRENT STATUS OF THE HEALTHCARE WORKFORCE IN TREATMENT DEPARTMENTS AT PUBLIC HEALTH FACILITIES IN BINH PHUOC PROVINCE DURING THE PERIOD 2020–2025

Abstract
Objective: To describe the current status of the healthcare workforce in treatment settings in Binh Phuoc Province during the period 2020–2025. Subjects and Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted involving all staff, officials, and employees working in the treatment sector at public healthcare facilities in Binh Phuoc Province, who have had at least one year of working experience during the 2020–2025 period. Results: From 2020 to 2025, the healthcare workforce in Binh Phuoc Province remained stable, ranging from 1,750 to 1,820 personnel. Physicians accounted for 24.55%, nurses/technicians/midwives 47.49%, university-trained pharmacists 4.3%, and medical assistants 7.37%. Among clinical physicians, the proportion of those with a university degree decreased, while specialists at level I increased to 23.9%. Those with doctoral/masters degrees or specialist level II accounted for only 2.3%. For paraclinical physicians, specialist level II increased to 8.2%, specialist level I to 23.1%, with no doctoral or master’s degrees reported. Among clinical nurses/midwives, the proportion with a university degree increased from 21% to 56.5%, and those with a college degree increased from 11% to 31%. Among paraclinical nurses/technicians, university degree holders increased from 24.6% to 55.1%, and college degree holders from 16.4% to 33.1%. Conclusion: The healthcare workforce in treatment settings in Binh Phuoc Province from 2020 to 2025 remained stable, with an increase in university-level qualifications and a decrease in intermediate-level qualifications, reflecting a trend toward improving professional quality.
