SURGICAL OUTCOMES OF MIDLINE AND PARAMEDIAN CEREBRAL ARTERIOVENOUS MAL FORMATIONS AT BACH MAI HOSPITAL
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: To evaluate surgical outcomes and to analyze management strategies of midline and paramedian AVMs. Methods: Retrospective study of 39 patients diagnosed with midline and paramedian AVM underwent surgical operation at Bach Mai hospital from Jan, 2023 to April, 2024. Results: 29 male and 10 female patients with mean age of 38,8 (14-77 years old). 71,8% of cases were ruptured AVMs. 13 patients (33,3%) had pre-operative endovascular embolization of AVM. 32 out of 39 patients had favorable surgical outcome. Conclusions: Most of patients had favorable surgical outcome. Management strategies for midline and paramedian AVMs includes pre-operative endovascular AVM embolization for Spetzler-Martin grade III or higher, craniotomy crossing the midline, wide opening of the interhemispheric fissure and using gravity retraction.
