Abstract

Background: Myocardial infarction (MI) in young adults is relatively uncommon. There remains a lack of comprehensive data regarding the clinical presentation, paraclinical findings, and short- and long-term prognosis in this patient group, which poses challenges for optimal management and secondary prevention. Method: A case report. Result:  We report a rare case of ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) in a 25-year-old male admitted to the Vietnam National Heart Institute, Bach Mai Hospital. The patient presented four hours after symptom onset and was promptly diagnosed and managed according to current clinical guidelines, resulting in a favorable outcome.  Conclusion: Although rare, MI in young adults should be promptly recognized and managed with the same standards of care as in older populations. While short-term outcomes are generally favorable, long-term prognosis remains inconsistent, with some studies suggesting worse outcomes over time. To improve long-term outcomes, emphasis should be placed on lifestyle modification and strict adherence to treatment.
