Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the analgesic effect of shortwave therapy combined with electroacupuncture and acupressure massage in the treatment of simple periarthritis of the shoulder. Subjects: 30 patients with simple periarthritis of the shoulder treated at the Traditional Medicine Hospital of the Ministry of Public Security. Methodology: Prospective study, comparing outcomes before and after treatment. Results: After 15 days of treatment, the mean VAS score of the study group decreased from 5,30 ± 0,79 to 1,23 ± 0,97 (p < 0.05). Pain scores according to the Constant Murley Score increased from 5,33 ± 1,27 to 11,83 ± 2,45 (p < 0.05). No adverse clinical effects were observed with the combined treatment methods. Conclusion: Shortwave therapy combined with electroacupuncture and acupressure massage is effective and safe in the treatment of simple periarthritis of the shoulder.
