PLASMA URIC ACID CONCENTRATION AND RELATED FACTORS IN CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE PATIENTS AT THAI BINH PROVINCIAL GENERAL HOSPITAL
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objectives: To investigate plasma uric acid concentration and some related factors in patients with chronic kidney disease at Thai Binh Provincial General Hospital. Subjects and Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted to collect data on plasma uric acid concentration, the prevalence of hyperuricemia, and some related factors in 90 patients diagnosed with chronic kidney disease treated at the Department of Nephrology – Musculoskeletal, Thai Binh Provincial General Hospital, from October 2024 to December 2024. Results: The average plasma uric acid concentration of the study subjects was 500.8 ± 142.7 µmol/L. The prevalence of hyperuricemia was 78.9%. The rate of hyperuricemia increased with the stage of chronic kidney disease, which was statistically significant with p < 0.05. There was a correlation between the prevalence of hyperuricemia and co-occurring dyslipidemia in chronic kidney disease patients with p < 0.05. Plasma uric acid concentration had a positive correlation with blood urea concentration, r = 0.251, p = 0.017. Conclusion: There is a relationship between plasma uric acid concentration and the stages of chronic kidney disease, dyslipidemia, and plasma urea concentration in patients with chronic kidney disease.
