Abstract

Meigs syndrome is a rare condition characterized by a benign ovarian tumor, ascites, and pleural effusion, which can be misdiagnosed as malignancy, leading to unnecessary interventions. We report a case of a 68-year-old female presenting with progressive dyspnea, persistent dry cough, bilateral pleural effusion, and ascites, along with a pelvic mass. Imaging suggested a benign adnexal tumor, and a core-needle biopsy confirmed an ovarian fibroma. After surgical removal of the mass, the effusions resolved spontaneously without recurrence. This case highlights the importance of imaging and histopathology in differentiating Meigs syndrome from malignant conditions.
