Abstract

Objective: Describe the clinical and paraclinical characteristics of fetuses and newborns following cesarean delivery in preeclamptic women at Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital. Methods: A descriptive study, selecting all neonates delivered by cesarean section from pregnancies complicated by preeclampsia with gestational age from 20 weeks onwards. Results: The mean gestational age at pregnancy termination was 34 ± 2,2 weeks. The rate of fetal distress signs on obstetric monitoring was considerably high (70.4% in the severe preeclampsia group and 23.5% in the mild preeclampsia group), with notably 2.5% of fetuses showing a cerebroplacental ratio < 1 on fetal umbilical artery Doppler. Neonates had good Apgar scores (8,5 ± 1,4 at 1 minute and 9,4 ± 1,6 at 5 minutes); no case of intrauterine fetal demise or neonatal deaths. Conclusion: Neonates delivered by cesarean section from mothers with preeclampsia at Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital showed stable clinical conditions, with no severe complications documented.
