KNOWLEDGE OF APPLICATION OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OF MEDICAL STAFF IN ORGANIZING EMERGENCY AID FOR ACUTE ISCHEMIC STROKE PATIENTS AT SIX HOSPITALS IN THE NORTHERN REGION OF VIETNAM IN 2022
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: Knowledge regarding the application of information technology (IT) by healthcare workers in organising emergency care for patients with acute ischaemic stroke (AIS) at six hospitals in northern Viet Nam was described in 2022. Subjects and Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study with analytic components was carried out on 159 healthcare workers who directly used IT while organising emergency AIS care. Results: The highest proportions of healthcare workers whose knowledge of IT applications in AIS emergency management were recorded concerned: patient-status monitoring with time-based alerts (72.3%); patients being enabled to access the system proactively via the Internet (77.4%); direct support being obtained from network specialists (67.3%); patient timelines being flagged automatically by the system (67.3%); timely consultations and referrals being received (71.1%); the effectiveness of emergency treatment being improved (63.5%); system-maintenance funding being secured (76.1%). Conversely, lower knowledge levels were noted for: convenient retrieval of patient and medical information (20.1%); inter-facility transfers being coordinated scientifically and proactively (40.9%); the system being utilised for scientific research (40.3%); software platforms being synchronised (42.8%). A higher level of knowledge regarding IT use in AIS emergency organisation was recorded among physicians than among nurses. Conclusion: Healthcare workers’ knowledge of IT utilisation in organising emergency care for AIS patients was identified as insufficient; therefore, updated training on these topics is necessary
