Abstract
Objective: Evaluation of swallowing disorders by Videofluoroscopic Swallow Study (VFSS) in patients with brain lesion at the National Rehabilitation Nursing Hospital in 2024. Subjects and Methods: A retrospective descriptive study was conducted in patients with brain lesion (n=29) who underwent VFSS at National Rehabilitation Hospital from January to December 2024. Results: The majority of the study participants were male (82.8%) and over 60 years old (69.0%). Cerebral infarction 16 patients (55.2%), cerebral hemorrhage 07 patients (24.1%), traumatic brain injury 05 patients (17.2%), encephalitis 01 patient (3.4%). The VFSS technique proved effective in detecting dysphagia across all three phases of swallowing. The prevalence of dysphagia in the oral, pharyngeal, and esophageal phases was 65.5%, 55.2%, and 6.9%, respectively. No adverse effects were recorded during or after the VFSS procedure. Conclusion: VFSS is an effective technique for evaluating and developing rehabilitation plans for patients with swallowing disorders.
