Abstract

Objectives: Assessment of quality of life of Parkinson's patients treated as outpatients at Nam Dinh General Hospital in 2023. Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study with non-probability convenience sampling method, pre-designed instrument set. Results: The average age of the patients was 68.59±9.53 years, the majority of patients were in stages 2 and 3 (34.5% and 48.5%, respectively). 87.5% of the patients had tremor as the initial symptom, 65.5% had motor deficits, the majority of patients had unilateral onset (93%) and the hand was the first affected location (86%). The common symptoms in the study group were tremor (93.5%), hypertonia (82%), and hyperreflexia (84.5%), and abnormal gait (68%). The symptoms of impaired consciousness, decreased tendon reflexes, and aphasia accounted for less than 10%. The quality of life score of the study subjects according to the PDQ-39 scale was 39.96±2.08 points. Conclusion: Parkinson's disease patients' quality of life was affected in 28.5% as low, 36.5% as moderate, 33% as severely, and 2% as very severely.
