FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH NUTRITIONAL PRACTICES IN PATIENTS WITH ACUTE PANCREATITIS AT HANOI MEDICAL UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

Abstract
Objective: To examine factors associated with nutritional practices in patients with acute pancreatitis at Hanoi Medical University Hospital. Methods: Cross-sectional study of 113 inpatients with acute pancreatitis from August 2024 to July 2025. Results: Early nutrition ≤48 h was provided in 83.2% of cases. Early nutrition was more frequent in patients <60 years than ≥60 years (OR=3.55; 95%CI=1.23–10.21). The proportion receiving early nutrition was higher in those with mNUTRIC ≥5 or APACHE II ≥20 (p<0.05). No significant associations were observed with sex, BMI, SOFA, CT severity by Balthazar/CTSI, etiology of acute pancreatitis, or comorbidities (p>0.05). Conclusions: Most patients with acute pancreatitis received early enteral nutrition. Associated factors included age <60 years, high nutritional risk by mNUTRIC, and APACHE II stratification. Early enteral nutrition is safe and beneficial, helping reduce complications and shorten treatment duration.
