BILATERAL SCROTAL VEIN EMBOLIZATION IN A PATIENT WITH RECURRENT VARICOCELE AFTER SURGICAL VEINLIGATION: CASE REPORT

Abstract
Varicocele is an abnormal dilation of the veins in the scrotum, most commonly on the left side, and is a treatable cause of male infertility. Diagnosis mainly relies on Doppler ultrasound with the Valsalva maneuver. Surgery is a common treatment but may have a recurrence. A 42-year-old male patient with bilateral recurrent varicoceles after surgery was successfully treated with sclerotherapy via bilateral femoral vein access. The technique used combined coil and biological glue, minimally invasive, highly effective, and leaves no scars. Post-treatment ultrasound showed no residual varicose veins, and clinical symptoms significantly improved. Embolization is highly regarded as it can treat both sides, especially in cases of recurrence or in patients who prefer to avoid repeat surgery. Therefore, embolization should be considered the standard alternative treatment to surgery in complex cases
